Our Most Popular Daily Scheduled Trip Cape Town has one of the best locations to see the Sunset from the Sea. With the Atlantic Ocean stretching away from the majestic Table Mountain range, this is certainly a ‘must do’ cruise for locals and tourists alike. Toast the setting sun from the deck of one of Waterfront Charters amazing range of vessels.
A complimentary glass of local sparkling wine (two glasses per guest, or a bottle for a couple) will be served, and the bar will be open for all other drinks for the duration of the cruise. Toast to the setting sun once more!
Cape Town weather can change five times a day, so our route from the harbour is not always predictable; the two options below are merely a guide. But no matter which direction we take be assured of a spectacular cruise.
SUNSET UNDER SAIL The sailboats Esperance and Serenity One follow the wind for this cruise. They do not offer a specific destination for this reason; you will be advised before departure as to the expected direction. The typical Cape Town summer wind blows from the south-east; the boats use the motors to leave the harbour and then they sail across Table Bay towards Milnerton lighthouse, returning to the protection of Granger Bay in the lee of Table Mountain to watch the sunset, and then motor back to the Waterfront.
In the winter months with the northwester prevalent, the direction taken will be toward the Clifton Coastline, or the Robben Island Coastline, also returning to Granger Bay. The wind and sea conditions change daily so the routing and style of the trip also change to meet the conditions; the skipper and crew will give you the best possible adventure.
SUNSET ON A MOTOR VESSEL The Motor Vessels Sea Princess and Southern Cross follow a different route to the sailing boats. As they are not dependant on the wind they offer a destination and normally cruise slowly along the Atlantic seaboard towards Clifton beach and then return. [/responsivevoice]
VARIATION TO CRUISE (DUE TO WEATHER) For all the vessels, when the seas are running too high or the wind is unpleasantly strong, instead of heading into Table Bay the destination is the Cape Town Harbour for a Harbour Lights Cruise; a perfect alternative offering magical views of Table Mountain and the lights of Cape Town and the harbour in the evening. In extreme conditions, the skipper will take every aspect into account, and even stay dockside to ensure the safety of the passengers.

Jeff was AWESOME! Very friendly and accommodating. He takes amazing pictures! Did I mention the free sparkling wine or juice? I felt like I was in a titanic before it sank, obviously 🙄 lol.
Great experience. Amazing crew. Good music!!!
Our cruise was first class from start to an extended end. Booking online was convenient and easy and we were informed by WhatsApp where to go and what to do. The crew were friendly and created a good vibe. Kudos to the captain who changed course to allow us to get close up, and without frightening, to a whale family that were spotted out in the bay. Everyone around us enjoyed this unexpected sight. The return to harbour, under a full moon, felt like it was with close friends A pleasant surprise was to get a refund as promised for a young passenger that we had paid full fare for, a few days after the cruise.
The lack of organization is a poor start to the entire experience.
You are told to queue at 4:15 for boarding, but there is no staff present to regulate the queue, so regardless of how punctual you are, you are crushed in a mass when boarding begins.
The crew are unapologetic, to the point of being rude.
Although the boat is large in appearance there is limited seating outside of the enclosed cabin. There are more people who want to sit in the open air than the boat can accommodate.
Despite being first in the queue, in the ensuing crush, we were told there is no longer space on the upper deck.
Too bad - is the attitude.
If we wanted to sit outside of the cabin, we were told to sit at the back of the boat in front of the engines.
Only when we were overwhelmed by engine fumes, then suddenly, "space" became available on the upper deck and we were allowed up.
If you don't mind standing for the hour trip, with no social distancing, blaring music and smoke (engine and cigarette) then this is your booze cruise.
If you are hoping for serene appreciation of nature and the ocean, it is not.
I would not recommend it to my friends and did not enjoy the interaction with the crew or the overall experience.
This was great experience. We did ocean safari. Always ask for deal got good savings. Crew was great!
They lied about being able to accommodate us and made us wait in the sun and told us they can't refund us. Staff was extremely rude.
I will not recommend this service.
Online booking was easy. And I think the hour and a bit cruise was good value for money.
It's a lovely trip out of the V&A Waterfront and around Granger Bay. The times for departure is adjusted according to the season's sunset hour. The staff are incredibly friendly. We received two glasses of sparkling wine each (not champagne). But that's no fault of the Charter company as most South Africans term our sparkling wines "champagne".
One must remember to take along a jacket or blanket, as it gets very cold, very quickly.
The trip is very smooth, so there's little chance of feeling sea sick.
Had a wonderful time on Serenity One with my friends. The crew was amazing - and so funny, very entertaining. Felt like we had our own personal Tour Guide onboard. Thank you for a WONDERFUL cruise.
We really had a great time! The boat itself is comfortable and well maintained. The Crew however made all the difference!! One can see that they love what they do, and go out of their way to make this experience a fun one for the adults and the youngsters onboard. We enjoyed some drinks while cruising the coastline, and spotted not only Seals but Dolphins too, much to the delight of our toddler who had his very first boat ride out onto the ocean. Will be back soon!😅
What a fun experience. We took the 1hr boat trip around the harbour. It was very pleasant and out tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. Great family outing
